Such is Twitter's success you imagine its riding the crest of it's social media wave at the moment so the time to cash in is now. Google were rumoured to be going to buy Twitter but then there was the rumour about Apple buying Twitter for $700 million. However as the Guardian Technology Blog notes why would Apple buy Twitter? It would not really fit into their usual acquisition strategy which is to buy hardware companies or specialist software to help their hardware sales.
They don't think it will happen, nor do i. It might be "cool" but wouldn't really make any sense.
