CoffeeGroundz Cafe in Houston, TX has found an interesting way to stand out from the crowd, they are accepting orders using Twitter. It all started by accident when the coffee shop, which had a Twitter account already (@coffeegroundz), was sent a tweet from a regular customer asking if he could place an order. The coffee shop manager J.R. Cohen replied asking more about the order and from there, and the free PR that (possibly) first coffee order using Twitter had generated, CoffeeGroundz started taking orders via direct messages from regular customers.
Of course the key here is "regular" as it is easy to see how this could be open to abuse if the shop accepted orders from anyone who was a follower but it is a very good way to build a relationship with your customers by providing them really useful functionality using something they already have anyway.
